SnapScribe — Privacy Policy

SnapScribe is a Chrome extension that captures screenshots and turns them into organized notes with on-device OCR, summaries, and PDF export. It is built privacy-first.

What stays on your device

Your screenshots, extracted text (OCR), summaries, notes, tags, flashcards and notebooks are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB). They are never uploaded to our servers. OCR and the offline summarizer run entirely on your device.

What we receive (only if you create an account)

• Email address — used to sign you in with a one-time code and to track your free trial / Pro subscription. The code is delivered via Brevo.
• Payment — handled by Razorpay. We never see or store your card details; we only keep a payment id, plan and amount to activate Pro.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or run third-party analytics or tracking.

Permissions & why

• activeTab, scripting, host access — to capture a screenshot of the page you're on, and (for region/article capture) read the selected area or the page's article text. Runs only when you start a capture.
• storage, unlimitedStorage — to save your screenshots and notes locally.
• tabs — to record the page title/URL of a capture and to open the library.

Data deletion

Uninstalling the extension (or clearing the extension's site data) removes all local data. To delete your account record (email & subscription), email us.
